Fly free

Thought I'd share with you the design from my last class at Craftworld. A big thank-you to the 45 ladies and gent who came along and took part, and to my friend Ruth for covering for me while I was in Harrogate.

Class version

The mountboard background was inked using Tim Holtz distress inks Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Stormy Sky and Walnut Stain. Once inked, I spritzed the background with Perfect Pearl Mists in Heirloom Gold. The Fabulous Flourishes stamps and birds, from Stampers Anonymous, were inked with Coffee Archival ink and dusted with Perfect Pearls. The script was stamped using DI's.
I embossed the metal border using TSS mould Kabuka 14 and lightly sanded the raised areas.
The birdcage, bird and branch are all Sizzix dies from the Tim Holtz Collection, cut from grungeboard. I've used Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint to cover the cage, and highlighted the cracks using Walnut Stain. Crackle paint is so cool, it's the only time I don't mind watching paint dry!!
Something else that's really cool are Distress Stickles. They are on the flowers, although it's difficult to see from the photo. Topping the flowers are jewellery findings that have been hammered flat and glued in place.
The cage opens to allow your little bird to fly free revealing the sentiment underneath.

Happy campers
